Review

NECA began their 2 pack boxed sets with the amazing Freddy vs. Jason, and they knew a good thing when they saw it.  Now we are getting a steady series of sets based on different licenses, such as the upcoming Halloween set featuring a new version of Michael Myers as well as the long Demanded Sam Loomis, and the newest release, The Crow Reflections set.

One of the things that sets NECA apart is that other companies have taken older figures and either blown them up, or shrunk them down to capitalize on making money.  NECA takes that process and, as fans, makes something worth spending your money on.

Case in point: The "Crow" figure in this package is a scaled down version of their recently released 18 inch Crow, but NECA goes the extra mile by including the vanity and mask that was featured in the film, but also a figure of Eric Draven fresh out of the grave.

It's a great memoriam for actor Brandon Lee, and ones fans will cherish.  The detail on the figure is great, even including the bullet holes in his back, which I am sure is a macabre and bittersweet reminder of the accident that claimed Mr. Lee's life on the set of the film.  Props to NECA for taking the chance!

The Crow figure, like the 18 inch, is just as amazing.  My only Caveat is to not be impatient putting the crow on his shoulder or you will break the bird's leg, ,much like I did.  Not so much a faulty product, as impatience on my part.

The Vanity is simple but detailed as much as it needs.  The main missing component, is the broken glass, but NECA creatively steers around this with the whole "reflections" concept.  The figures are posed pretty much symbiotically so that you place one on each side of the vanity in order to complete the illusion.

The candles and mask are well designed and detailed, and you can even read the label on the Clown white pancake makeup tin.  There are words on the small pink bottle as well, but they're so small, I can't make em out.  What the hell do they use to print those things anyway.

Lastly, may we suggest keeping the floor and backdrop from the packaging, because it makes a very nice Diorama with the window in the backdrop.

All in all, it's a beautiful set, and a must for any fan of 'The Crow', Brandon Lee, or plastic representations of cheap gothic vanities.

MovieManiacs.net gives NECA's The Crow: Reflections set a 4 out of 5
