Series 3 set for August release.

It wasn't too long ago that I took place in a discussion on one of the message boards about the advantages of releasing Series 3 earlier in favor of finding them more available during their peak sales time.  Well, whoever made the post must be feeling pretty good right now because McFarlane has decided to up the release date of Series 3 to August.

Unfortunately for some, this could mean that the line stays as is without any new figures being added, however that is not for sure, we will just have to wait and see what happens from here on out.

Thanks for Dustin for the heads up!

Variation Confirmed and Big 3 from Series 1 in Stores Now!

Our good friend Ghost Man wrote in to confirm to us that he has seen the new "Ghostface" packaging as well, and that he has also seen Freddy, Jason, and Leatherface in stores again.

Be looking for them at Suncoast, Spencers, EB, Media Play, and Sam Goody.  More stores will be announced as I hear about them.

VARIATION ALERT!

Well, it seems that Ghostface just can't stop changing.  First with the Dual posters and now with the Packaging it seems.

Angelo sent in this pic of a Ghostface he got with GHOSTFACE lining the top of the package rather than the usual SCREAM.

This is still as yet unconfirmed, but we are working on verifying it for you.  It looks to be legit though and makes sense.

April Fools Joke goes POOF!

Ok, I am just going to come out and say it  I know some of you bought it and for that I am really really sorry, but alas there is no Bad Seeds line.  It was just my April Fools gift to all of you.

Unfortunately, no one wrote or posted on the board about it, except for one person who asked if they were carded or a boxed set.  There was no debate, no fun, the people that responded to it totally believed it, which I guess is the point, but I still felt bad nonetheless.  Especially to Jason Krueger at the Spawn board who took it all wholeheartedly.

Anyway, had to do the big reveal so it didn't go any further, and I promise from now on, all info will be solid.  Feel free to discuss this on the MESSAGE BOARD!

Happy April Fools day everyone!

Have you met your Final Destination?

Here's a real rare find that I have been meaning to convey to all you fellow film freaks.

If you haven't check out Final Destination, you need to ASAP.

I too thought this may be your usual run of the mill teen scare flick, that is until I found out who was behind it.  Glen Morgan and James Wong were a major part of why the X-Files is the phenomenon that it is today, they have since lent there considerable talents to shows such as Millennium, The Others and the WB's Roswell.

Regardless of who you are you should love this film.  It is fresh, surprising and Thrilling!  It is definitely a sleeper in this waste of mediocre films out now.

For X-Files fans, you guys will enjoy it even more since echoes of the show run rampant through the film, for extra fun see if you can match up characters in the film to which episode they've guested on  since the vast majority of them have been on there at one time or another.

Anyway, I challenge you to take the initiative and go see this film this weekend, trust me, after all is said and done, you won't regret it, and your friends will thank you.

Here is another shot of the upcoming KUBRICK Blair Witch figures coming soon from Medicom Toys.

Although they are manufactured through a Japanese Toy company they should be distributed to the US through Diamond Distributing, so Check out Diamond Comics.com and PREVIEWS for updates.

Thanks to RTM for the use of this pic from the Tokyo Toy Fair.

Shaft added to Series 3

In a move very surprising and bold, McFarlane has decided to include their upcoming SHAFT figure into Series 3 of the Movie Maniacs line.  Negotiations must not have been going well for other figures thought to be included in a sister line, so possibly, McFarlane just decided to include the figure in Movie Maniacs rather than marketing a single carded figure for the film.  Here is the confirmation from Steve the Victim.

"It's official, Shaft is being added to the Movie Maniacs 3 line. There are no other changes beside Shaft."

This decision comes on the heels of a big debate on whether figures such as Snake Plissken and Edward Scissorhands deserved to be included in the line, Now, with the addition of Shaft, we should see debaters send the argument into overdrive.  I, have been a supporter of figures such as Ed and Snake being included in the line, but even I must admit, Shaft just doesn't fit, although I do hope this is accurate and not just Steve exacting a little pre April Fools Revenge.  Right now, to my knowledge, it's true.  We'll see though.

For those, unaware, the Shaft figure is from the upcoming John Singleton film, "SHAFT RETURNS" starring the amazing Samuel L. Jackson.

Demand for the Big 3 lands Jason Freddy and Leatherface BACK IN STORES!

Here is the story straight from SPAWN.COM:

"Leatherface, Jason and Freddie are all back in town, ready to slice and dice their way into your lives.
That's right, McFarlane Toys is re-releasing the ultra-popular extra-bloody versions of three of the greatest slashers of all time from the original Movie Maniacs series.
Leatherface, Jason and Freddie are the original sculpts and packaging. The bloody versions were released in very limited quantities and McFarlane Toys decided to remanufacture them after many collectors were unable to get the originals.
Look for them in stores in April."

The article states that the figures will be the original sculpts and packaging so no known changes are thought to exist at this time, except for the fact that if they do make them "extra bloody" as the article says, a difference may be seen between them and the originals which were sometimes lacking in blood.

They also confirmed at the end of the article that the 18" Maniacs WILL, in fact, have sound!

A different kind of Evil

To go along with our new poll I thought I would give you an example to see what I was talking about.

I have been having a great time trying to track down the different Austin Powers figures and their Variations.  It turns out that one of the most interesting happens to be Scott Evil, who right now has possibly around 8 variations.

The original comes with a Kurt Cobain likeness on his T-Shirt, and a Gun and Handcuffs on his chain.  However, the Kurt shirt was blurred because of licensing problems, and the gun dropped due to I guess tastefulness.  Both were running changes so you end up with some with no gun but the shirt, or no shirt but the gun. or both or neither.  Plus there are the 2 different sound chip variations so that multiplies it again.

Just click the pic above to see the shirt comparison, and get out there and try to track down a Scott Evil with the Kurt shirt and Gun on his chain.

Please send in any other variations you hear about or know of.

What can I say about this that the Picture doesn't say for itself?

These aren't what you think though.  These are part of a Japanese made Toy line called KUBRICKS.

I know, the first time I heard the name I was like "YEAH, SHINING FIGURES AT LAST", but trust me, it's not what they are.

KUBRICKS are made by a company called Medi Com Toy, and have just recently started being produced.  In addition to some Anime' lines, the have elected to take on Planet of the Apes and THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT.

As you can see, the set consists of Heather, Josh, and Mike with their Gear and a Stickman symbol.  This has to be one of the coolest toys around, and luckily, Diamond Distributing has the exclusive US merchandise rights to Medi Com.  So while your checking your latest issue of Previews for the Movie Maniacs, keep an eye out for these little jewels as well.

I will let you know more as I hear it.

Special thanks to RTM for the word on this.

Got Jason?

I have gotten an insane amount of inquries on where you can find the Jason Voorhees figure for sale, and frankly, the only place was Ebay...Until now. "Bloody versions of Jason, Freddy, and Leatherface are in the latest Diamond Previews catalog that came out Wednesday. Like before, each store sets their own price. All orders have to be in by the end of the month"

Well, there you are, One last chance for a Jason on Card, just get to the Comic shop quick!
