Just when you thought it was safe to go back on the Bus...

This is a nice little piece I picked up over the weekend.  It is a part of the Matchbox Collectibles Star Car Bus collection.  I haven't seen them around at many stores but then again I don't look at Matchbox that often.  I found this one at JC Penney of all places on clearance for about $6.  All in all it's a nice little piece for the collection, especially since there isn't too much Jaws stuff out there.  Click Here if you would like a closer look.

New and Improved Exorcist coming March 17th

Warner Brothers has announced that they will re-release The Exorcist March 17th with all new footage that was originally left out because the Director thought it would be too much for Audiences to handle.  The very thought of what they may have left out is enough to make your stomach turn so it should be a great opportunity to reacquaint yourself with this Horror Classic.  I know I will try to see it just to face my longtime fear of this movie after seeing it as a child.  It will also be a great chance for everyone who may not have seen it to catch it before the figure comes out.  Regardless of reason, be on the lookout for it March 17th.

Steve Comes through again.

Rheen from the Spawn Board was kind enough to write in an let us know that McFarlane's own Steve Hamaday has once again let the fans know what is up.

When asked about the Exorcist figure, he confirmed " YES, we will be doing REAGAN."

Details on accessories and who, if anyone she may replace is still unknown.  The safe money on accessories is a Bed, which really completes this figure, but anything is possible. hey, maybe even spewing action. (JK)

The Pic to the left is just a shot of a model that someone sent to me.  Someone suggested doing the same thing with the Thing Models and I never did it and then McFarlane guide did it and got a good response from it so I decided to jump on it this time.  Sometimes these things do end up resembling looking like models that are made of them so who knows what to expect.  Just click the pic for a bigger version and thanks to Christian for sending it in.

If the proposed sister  line for Movie Antiheroes comes through, we can expect Snake and possibly Ed to be bumped over and Reagan and possibly Pinhead would be added to the Series 3 Maniac line.

Anything is possible so we will of course keep you informed on all the latest developments.

However, since one of the licenses being sought for the sister line is Pulp Fiction, we figured we would have a little fun and see who you want the most so CLICK HERE to vote in the latest poll.

Reassurances from Steve The Victim

Our good friend Poe Ghostal wrote in to let us know that he E-mailed  McFarlane's own Steve Hamaday with the question that's on everyone's mind.  "What's with Ash's Likeness?"

I am somewhat pleased to share his response with you.

"Don't sweat it, it's just a rough."

There you go.  Short but to the point.  It seems for now, McFarlane has heard the concern and is addressing the problem.  We'll keep you posted on any changes.

More Exorcist Evidence, Freddy on the X-Files,

and a SCREAMing Winner.

This pic comes from Action Figure Collectors.com, and is a surprisingly overlooked promo sign from the McFarlane Showroom at Toy Fair, showing us that plans for an Exorcist figure is definitely on the way.

If you are an avid X-Files watcher like me, you may have noticed a special mention and sketch of Freddy in last night's Episode.  The Episode, titles X-COPS, was a humorous union of the X-Files and Cops as they tried to chase down a creature that Preyed on peoples deepest fears.  For one Woman it was apparently Freddy Krueger since that is the sketch that came from her description.  They made a little mistake using 5 claw marks instead of 4 but we won't hold it against them.  It was very funny and truly an entertaining episode.

Special thanks to The Haven..., one of the Best X-Files Sites on the net, for the use of the above pics

And Finally we have a winner in the Ultimate Scream Trivia Challenge and it's Tom Henry!  Congratulations to Tom and all the people who participated.  Be on the lookout for our Next Contest coming soon!

Maniacs taking on New Life

Just think of it, you're lying in your bed at night just about to fall asleep when something catches your eye.  Was it a mouse?  Just a branch moving out the window?  You lie back down a little creeped out when you see a more distinct movement out of the corner of your eye.  Was that, No, it's not possible.  As you look back at your desk in disbelief you are just in time to see your brand new 18 inch Freddy Krueger Movie Maniac raise a claw and wish you "Sweet Dreams"

Is it Possible?  Maybe, especially since McFarlane is looking into the possibility of putting Movement into their brand new 18 inch Maniacs as well as sound cards.   Thereby making a cool line of figures, amazing,

We will keep you posted on the progress, but it wouldn't hurt to mention how much you love this idea here and on the Spawn Message boards.  Maybe this dream, can become a cool reality.

Special thanks to Brian at McFarlaneguide for sharing this great scoop with us.

Movie Line Branches out!

Brian, the webmaster over at McFarlaneguide got to participate in a press conference type interview with Todd McFarlane and Todd had a few interesting things to say about the state of the line and things to come Especially when confronted with the great question of, why are non maniacs in the maniacs line.  Here's what he had to say:

"We have the Movie Maniacs, which work, but I think you could take
the edge off...we're going to probably split it from Movie Maniacs to
just sort of Movie Anti-Heroes or something, I don't know what we'll
call it. Edward Scissorhands and Snake Plissken right now are Movie
Maniacs, but they could be easily shuffled over. Shaft can come. We're
working on the deal for Pinhead, so Pinhead would take Edward
Scissorhands place. The Exorcist takes the place of Snake...Let's say
we get the deal for Pulp Fiction, which we're working on, then all of a
sudden it's like, 'We got two Samuel L.'s -- one bald and one hairy.'"

Whoa, WHAT'S THIS?  Actually this is why I love McFarlane interviews because Todd loves to spill stuff!  Now we have some pretty Solid confirmation that Reagan from the Exorcist is in and Pinhead may not be far behind( and if you remember back a couple of months ago, I mentioned that I thought Pinhead may make it in Series 3).  If they get the other licenses, then we can look forward to the line that we have been petitioning for  consisting of Edward, Snake, Shaft, and Pulp Fiction.

All I can say is WOW!  I can't believe it's really happening!

Toy Fair is always full of surprises and this is one of the best yet!

FLUKEMAN LIVES!!!

You heard me Right, it seems as though maybe not ALL the X-Files toys are as dead as sources claimed they were.

TNflukeman1.jpg (3235 bytes)    TNflukeman2.jpg (2946 bytes)

Take Flukeman here who just so happened to make a guest appearance at the McFarlane toys showroom in the EXCLUSIVES section.  A McFarlane rep claims that this one happened so fast that the details of it's exclusivity have yet to be determined, but it will be released somewhere and we will let you know as soon as we hear where.  As for the other members of the lost X-Files line, keep watching because who knows if or when they will pop up.

There are also some great new shots on the Toy Fair Pics page.

Very special thanks goes to toyfairlogo.gif (2559 bytes)  for catching this big story and all these great pictures!   Check out the rest of RTM's Phenomenal Toy Fair coverage by clicking the logo or their link on our Toy Fair page!

McFarlane Explodes into Toy Fair

Hi guys, Russ here, and what a week it's going to be.

The first thing I will hit on is McFarlane has showroom coverage as well as their entire 2000 catalog online at the website.

The bad news is until I get permission I can't post any of the actual pictures, so instead we will go step by step and I will give you a lot of links.

Movie Maniacs is represented in full force this year and of course I am going to start with the one I have been telling you about for close to a Month.   Yep, KONG is a reality and is quite amazing.

Check out Kong Here

Another big revelation comes from the 18 inch line.

Not only will Freddy have a removable hat this time, but all of the 18 inchers will come with VOICE CHIPS!!!

While it is beyond me what Mike and Jason will say, I still think it will be cool.  No mention of Jason yet but as far as I know he's still planned.

Check out the 18 Inchers Here.

Ok, now to good ol Series 3.  All I can say for you THING naysayers, is prepare to eat your words because the figures are simply amazing!  This has to be some of McFarlane's best work to date!   Also, we finally get a clear look at Snake in all his glory.  The promo pic of The Fly makes me wish the Telepod was available as well.  Enough chit chat though.

Check out Series 3 here

Also, McFarlane has the license to the new John Singleton SHAFT film.

Click here to check out Samuel L Jackson in all  his glory!

Finally, check out all the great new figures whether you like the line or not.  They all still look amazing!

Mike Headliner added to Headliners Archive.

I picked up the Michael Myers Headliner from Spencer Gifts this evening and I must say that even I am pleased and don't greatly regret paying $14.  (FYI Getting a Spencer's Wild and Crazy card will save you a little $$$ and it's free.  Just ask for it at the counter.)

He is as cool looking as he is creepy and they really did a great job on him.  He has eyes visible but you have to be right up on him to see them and I tell you, I have hin sitting on my Monitor and he is just disturbing the hell out of me.  Always a sign of a Toy done right.

To check out the pics CLICK HERE.

T-Minus 2 Days and counting until Toy Fair!

It's getting real exciting here in anticipation of the great new stuff we will see at Toy Fair.

Base 37 will have a reporter in attendance and we will also be working with RTM and providing Links to other places you can check out pics as well.

We hope you will check in with us throughout the week as we hope to bring you the best news pics and info from the greatest Toy show on earth.

I myself have wanted to attend personally for years and hopefully within the next year or two I can make that happen.  On a positive note, Brian, the editor over at McFarlaneguide.com will be attending his very first Toy Fair after being the exact same way.  We wish him the best of luck, a safe trip and a great time overall.

Check us out beginning Monday February 14th for your Toy Fair Coverage!

Toyfare's Toy Fair Preview

The Latest Toyfare has just been released and in it's pages are some amazing secrets!

There are some great promo shots from Series 3 that we haven't yet seen.  Among them are another shot of Snake (and yes the likeness looks promising), The Fly, and a somewhat better looking shot of Ash likeness wise.  Still not great but better.

Also we get a good look at the first line of 18 inch Movie Maniacs in brand new sculpts of Michael Myers and Freddy.

Mike is almost the same, but as you can tell the mask looks MUCH more like that of the original Halloween.  Freddy is Amazing in this new creepy sculpt that will look nothing less than perfect in it's 18 inches of glory.

Also, as you can see on the cover, the Fat Bastard figure is BACK IN to Austin Powers Series 2.  He is now a whopping 9 inches and comes in his yellow sweater.  This will be a big hit with fans of the line.  No pun intended.

Check out the pics here and on the Series 3 page.

Remember to check the page beginning Monday February 14th for Coverage from Toy Fair and a look at all McFarlane's great new secrets and projects.

Toy Fair Preview

ASH REVEALED

McFarlane Promotions is at it again.  Sending out they're latest set of promotional shots.  The bad news is they don't consider us worthy of being on their promotion list, the good news is, the good people at RTM don't mind sharing the wealth.

They were kind enough to share these promotional shots of Ash with us and give us a first look at the most anticipated figure which looks great in every way...except in likeness.  Unfortunately the figure looks hardly anything like Actor Bruce Campbell, but the rest is done very well.

Just click the pic or head over to the Series 3 section to see more and bigger shots of Ash, and don't worry, there is more to come.

In the meantime, head over to RTM  for the best news and coverage of all things toys.

Michael Myers finally hits Spencer Gifts.

I am very pleased to say that the exclusive Michael Myers Headliner has finally arrived at Spencer Gift stores.

Ghost man sent in the report saying he picked his up for $14.99.  While I am still waiting for the Ghostface figure to go down, I may actually be tempted to buy Mike sooner since I am really looking forward to him.

Check your local Spencer Gift stores for availability

Also, if you have seen Scream 3, head over to the message board to discuss your thoughts!

Friday February Fourth

New and Improved.

Well, although we haven't had enough time to do everything we wanted we still were set on having plenty of new things in effect for you.

First you will notice a new look for the title page of Movie Maniacs.  Joe Burke, a graphic Designer and longtime fan of the page created the brand new Flash Index for us.  If you can't download it, just go to Macromedia.com and download the latest edition of Flash.

Russ revamped many of the pics using a new glow effect that he is fond of.  The pics you see on the title page are either the same promo shots you have seen before and some of them are scans of Russ's Very own figures.  For those Edward Neigh Sayers, don't worry, Ed is just the Series 3 picture boy until a good picture of Ash comes along.  Then we will change it.  We will also look at shuffling the title pics around from time to time.  Snake was chosen just because he looked great in the glow, and Ghosty to celebrate Scream 3.  We wanted to use Jason but haven't got a good pic of him to come out yet.

Secondly, we hope you will check out our Brand new page 3F.  It is still in the Early stages but we are proud of the design thus far.  The concept for the 3F page was originally going to be used for the new Movie Maniacs look until the great Flash Index caused us to rethink out plans.

Lastly, Our First Contest is finally here and we hope you will test your knowledge and see if you can survive the SCREAM TRIVIA CHALLENGE.

We hope to hear your input on all our new additions and we also hope you will help us to do the very best job for you.  Check out the new poll for one, and let us know what you think of the new look.  Also, don't be afraid to E-mail us your suggestions.

As we approach the threshold of 100,000 hits, we thank you for visiting and enjoying our pages.  Let others know about us and hopefully the sky's the limit!

Most gratefully-The Staff at Base 37
