NECA's
Pinhead revealed

Now, courtesy of
Tomart's Action
Figure Digest, we have some truly fantastic looks at two different
fully painted prototypes of Pinhead. The "closed-mouth"
version seen on the right is a possible variant. Click on the
image above to see the complete images of Pinhead on the
cover of the magazine. There are further images located in the article inside.
Obviously our friendly neighborhood
Tankman has been working overtime to deliver stunning sculpts.
So far, the Hellraiser line from NECA is supposedly set to include
Pinhead, CD cenobyte from Hellraiser 3, and some rendition of
the Chatterer. More will likely be revealed in time. Thanks
to BadAsh for the heads-up on these images. - Bishop
McFarlane
set for Terminator 3 toy line
Those looking for more variety in their McFarlane Toys figures
next year than will be available in Movie Maniacs 6 need look
no further than Skynet, because, as reported in Tomart's Action
Figure Digest, Todd and co. have acquired the rights to release
Terminator 3 figures. No word yet on whether they will be able
to obtain the Schwarzenegger likeness rights this time, but stay
tuned. You'll have the scoop when we do. In the meantime, have
a look at the first head-on image of the new T-X terminator from
the movie, up above. Click on her for a bigger look at her, er,

Li II. Will they finally make it to release this time? We'll see.

McFarlane
Confirms Series 6 lineup

...and as you heard here, the "rumors"
are true. Series 6 consists of the figures we mentioned
in the last update, with a confirmed earlier release. Click on
the above prototype images to see larger versions.
For the official report

I must take a moment here to say that,
although I am a big Alien and Predator fan, I find it more than a
little disappointing that after what can be called a moderate
series at best, McFarlane chooses to coast by on Series 6, relying
on already obtained properties rather than seeking new and
inventive, not to mention more worthy characters for the
line.
Although we will wait only half the
time, there is just not that much to look forward to, and it seems
to be another sign that McFarlane is wanting to concentrate on
their more sports oriented figures and leave the things of old
behind. Can the end be near for the Maniacs line? Who
knows. I do know though that there are many other worthy
companies more than willing to pick up the slack.

Series 6 Confirmations
We said it months ago, other sights
came forward with some proofs, and now we have secondary
confirmation via the Release list of Electronics Boutique, which
has Movie Maniacs 6 listed as:
Alien Queen Box
Alien Dog
Alien Warrior
Predator 2 A
Predator 2 B
This also leads more to the
conclusions that McFarlane will take the easy route with Series 6
and keep it an all Alien/Predator line.
In one final bit of strange yet
interesting news, The EB computers have the release date for the
line, not at Halloween of next year, but only 5 months away at
April 21st 2003.
Whether or not that will hold true
remains to be seen, but it's a new and interesting development
nonetheless. -Russ 37

Near
Dark: Special Edition in stores today

Maybe you've heard of it and maybe
you haven't, but there's no doubt that Near Dark is one of the
best and most underrated vampire films of all time. Here's a
summary from our resident expert Severen:
Near Dark, directed by Katherine
Bigelow (Strange Days) tells the story of Caleb (Adrian Pasdar), a
reluctant young farm boy who is kidnapped and initiated into a
pack of modern vampires after he meets and falls for the
mysterious Mae (Jenny Wright) late one night. The pack of
vampires, led by Jessie Hucker (Lance Henriksen) travel across
America in stolen vehicles by night as they hunt down their prey
from city to city, spreading terror, death and violence wherever
they go but never staying too long in any one place so as to be
caught or raise suspicion. Meanwhile as Caleb is being trained by
the unruly Severen (Bill Paxton) to do what he has to do to
survive the ways of the night, his father Loy (Tim Thomerson) and
younger sister Sarah are searching, trying to track him down and
discover what happened to him. And it's a search that will
culminate in Caleb having to make the ultimate decision...
One
to Watch: '28 Days Later'
Randy writes in to let us know
about a very interesting film that we have heard little to nothing
about. After viewing the trailer, it seems to involve the
after effects of a post apocalyptic event complete with empty
streets and what appears to be zombies. The film is directed
by Danny Boyle who helmed the awesome 'Trainspotting' and 'Shallow
Grave'.
The film is being released by Fox
Searchlight, the independent films division of 20th Century Fox,
and has no posted sign of US Release, save for a clock counting
down from 37 days as of today.
Anyway, check out the trailer for
yourself by

Lord
Darkness figure only available in the USA
Some people wrote in to let us know
that McFarlaneguide posted a story that claimed the Lord Darkness
figure from Movie Maniacs Series 5 would only be released in the
US and it looks to be true. One of our readers wrote to the
guys at McFarlane and this is what they had to say:
"I believe it's true, It is, as always, a licensing issue and
completely
out of our hands."
(With licensing, it's usually that you can
either do what
the licensor wants, or not do the figure.)
So it looks like overseas
collectors will have to look to the states to complete their
series 5 collection.

MovieManiacs.net
at Dragon-Con 2002

This past weekend we attended
Dragon-Con, Atlanta's premiere fantasy and sci-fi convention.
We caught up with some of our favorite Horror Icons including
Linda Blair (the Exorcist), Lisa Wilcox (ANOES 4 and 5), and Kane
'JASON' Hodder. It was truly an honor to meet the man behind
the mask and we asked him briefly about his status with the Freddy
vs. Jason project.
Basically he explained that he has
met with the Director at one point, a meeting that went very well,
but the studio has been all but closed off to him.
Responding to the rumors that the studio wants someone who can do
more expressive 'eye' acting, he goes a bit further and says they
want someone smaller to play Jason, which is an astounding
discovery.
Kane says he would very much like
to be a part of the project, but it's not clear yet if it will
happen. On a similar note, we asked Lisa Wilcox, who played Alice
in ANOES 4 and 5, if she has had any contact about appearing in
the film, being that Alice is one of the few people to take on
Freddy and live. She said she asked her agent to get in
touch with the studio because she wanted to do a cameo or
appearance of some sort. Lisa says she would have worked for
scale pay for the part, but the studio would not pay the costs for
the plane ticket and Hotel accommodations for her.
Something seems very wrong in the
world of Freddy vs. Jason, almost as if it is just going to be
another routine teen slasher flick. Let's hope that doesn't
happen, but to ensure it, we encourage our readers to drop a line
to New Line HERE
and POLITELY let them know that you would like the see Kane Hodder
play the role of Jason, and no other actor will do.
Kane was a super nice guy and we
wish him the best of luck in all future projects, be they Jason
related or not. Check him out in Daredevil, coming to
theaters this February.

MAC
cancels 'The X-Files
In a press release from Moore
Action Collectibles today, we learned that there will be no more
X-files figures from them after the first series. Here's the
announcement:
August 2002
– We are extremely disappointed to announce Moore Action
Collectibles, Inc. will not be producing the anticipated line of
X-Files action figures announced last year. Influenced by the
television series cancellation, Moore Action does not believe the
X-Files market remains strong enough to support the action figure
line.
“Halting
development of the X-Files action figures was a difficult decision
for us” quotes Moore’s Director of Marketing, Wynne Hunkler.
“However, we feel confident this move will allow us the
opportunity to pursue other projects beneficial to our
collectors,” such as action figure lines from the popular Fox
Entertainment series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.
Certainly
one more blow, to already wounded X-Philes around the globe.

If you're into gaming, now is a great
time for Horror fans. Now in stores are 2 great games based
on some favorites of the genre.
Primal Hunt was released a week ago,
and is the expansion pack for the Aliens vs Predator 2 PC game.

Buffy the Vampire slayer was released
2 days ago for Xbox, and is an awesome game that is true to the
series. It's a favorite for fans and is surprising skeptics
everywhere.
The Thing was released yesterday for
PC and Playstation 2. An Xbox version will be released early next
month. The story picks up where the movie left off and
follows 2 teams as they are sent into the US Research station to
find out just what happened. The game plays heavily on the
trust and fear issues that made the movie so compelling.
As bonuses for Thing fans, Gamestop/Babbages
stores are offering a free Movie Maniacs Thing figure with your
purchase of the game, and EB Games goes one better by offering
customers a free copy of the DVD, which many agree, is one of the
