But not right now. It's gonna take two or three more years and finishing a few more books before he calls it quits. Read the details at Cinescape. - Bishop
Updates for 1-30
We finally have some screen grabs from a behind the scenes reel of the Tooth Fairy Costume coming together. We start with the general application and once all prosthetics are applied we se a short shot of the wing test which is quite cool. Here is a shot we grabbed that seems to be close to McFarlane's Silhouette
We know it's hard to see and small, but that's the format we received and we decided to go less Pixilated with the shots.
Here are a couple of more showing some of the application processes.
And finally some more detailed shots including the face. And now for the final Detailed product, courtesy of Randy, of Ask Randy at Action Figure Times
We would like to send a HUGE thanks out to Randy, of Ask Randy, "Light Meter" and Action Figure Times for sharing the above exclusive with us making MovieManiacs.net and Action Figure Times, the only places you'll see it. Feel offer Praise and thanks to them, as well as discussing the New maniac on OUR BOARD. And please remember to click the pic above or any of the names to check out Action Figure Times. It's a great site for News and toy info, and there's hardly a question our man Randy can't answer. Thanks! -Russ37 and the entire MM.net staff.
Updates for 1-29
Well kiddies, I have good news and bad news for you. The good news is that I got a visit from the Tooth Fairy last night and she left me a most interesting little package leaving me with no doubt in my mind that she is the figure in the silhouette! The Bad news is that I couldn't get my screen capture to work to get you a preview of just what I say, needless to say, it is very creepy and very much in the McFarlane tradition. I liken her to Version A of the Blair Witch, but Blue, not as decayed, long straight black hair, and of course Huge wings with some sort of neck based wings as well. THAT'S WHAT WE THOUGHT WERE CROWS! See the illustration below.
I think the wings are bent in awkward positions in that pic in order to purposely give a false illusion of The Creeper, or just to confuse, but that's what they are, I have seen it with my own eyes and I am comfortable stating that. ANYWAY, onto the Really good. Your favorite ace Toy Man and mine, the all knowing Randy of Ask Randy, has informed us that Wednesday on Action Figure Times, he too will back us up and show a pic of the Tooth Fairy so we can all see her and get a better Idea what to expect. He is sharing with us on this magnificent scoop so we would once again like to send our Thanks out to him and all the guys at Action Figure Times. In the meantime, if we can get the screen grabs to ever start working, we will have shot here ASAP.
Cinescape's got tons of quotes from Arnold, largely focused on the lack of Linda Hamilton and James Cameron involvement in this newest sequel. AICN also has another part of the same interview, where Arnold reveals a character SPOILER for his Terminator role in the movie. - Bishop
Dark Horizons has yet another review, which is very negative. - Bishop
In the middle of last year, when the ownership of Cinescape Magazine shifted, two of its spinoffs, the official 'X-Files' and 'Buffy' magazines were quietly cancelled. Now, 'X-Files' is coming back, with a new issue hitting shelves on Febuary 5. No word yet on what this sudden resurrection might mean for the 'Buffy' magazine. - Bishop
Randy of ASK RANDY reports on seeing John Carpenter and a screening of 'The Thing' If you haven't read about his experiences yet, now would be the time to do so, in this post on the message board. - Bishop
Updates for 1-28
An Anonymous user sent in this shot of what is supposedly the torso of the Wolfman figure from Monsters Series 1. It is hard to make out much, but it is more humanoid looking and there appears to be a wolf like feature peeking out behind the left shoulder. Also, we did receive confirmation that The Mummy's Anubis mask IS in fact removable, and have corrected our last report to reflect that. Lastly, Brad and Drew at McFarlane had a very interesting silhouette to show us today that many think could be the Voodoo Queen. You can judge for yourself by CLICKING HERE to check it out.
Updates for 1-26
While we still don't have any more pictures to show, we did manage to wrangle some descriptions away from discerning informants. Maybe they will help you in the ever growing crusade to Identify the McFarlane Mystery Silhouettes. Here's how some of Series 1 looks to break down:
Dracula-"Very wicked looking, cape made of the softer more flexible material McFarlane likes to use; very tattered and shredded looking. Sea Creature - "More Creature than human, they decided to take a more beastly approach to this one." Mummy - "is packaged with various accessories and has a removable mask of Anubis, the Dog faced Egyptian god." Voodoo Queen - "Typical McFarlane curvy female, comes with a large voodoo tribal mask"
Unfortunately, no further details were given on the Werewolf, and we have all seen Frankenstein, but in case you haven't, CLICK HERE. According to EB's computers, Monsters has a release date of April 4th and the price will be into the $10-$12 range.
In all the Maniac excitement, we have neglected to share with you these silhouettes that could possibly be members of Series 2 for Tortured Souls, or at least a Clive barker line of some sort. We have heard rumors of a separate McFarlane line, but it was said to be geared more towards kids if you can believe THAT. Anyway, onto the pictures, click either one to enlarge it. Picture 1 seems to have a very sharp peg leg, and some skin being peeled away from his torso, maybe revealing a rib cage and some entrails? Picture 2 seems to be female, arm outstretched in front, holding a weapon, wearing a dress, razors through various body parts, buzz saw through the head, and razor like wings. Of course your guess is just as good as ours on these, but we will all know come Toy Fair, Feb 11. (NOTE-Thanks to all who wrote in and disagreed with "Missing Arm" theory on pic 2, especially King Randor. You can make it out if you look.)
Updates for 1-25
Reader Cage sent us in these cool shots of N2's upcoming "Big Trouble in Little China" line. Planned for release are individual action figures of Jack Burton, Wang Chi, Egg Chen, Lo Pan, Lightening, and Chinese Wildman. Also planned for release is a 12 inch version of Jack, as well as a a slot in N2's new Phat Headz line, along the same lines as Headliners. Big Trouble is just one of many licenses N2 has been snatching up lately. Recently hitting store shelves are Series 2 of The Road Warrior, Figures from the, now defunct, Tick series, and FX/Howard Stern comedy Son of the Beach. Carter1010 informs us though that there is at least one license that N2 no longer has, and it is that of "The Fifth Element". Apparently the deal fell through when the company didn't secure the likeness rights from the actors.
Look for Big Trouble figures though, this
Summer. -Russ
Based upon true events, The Mothman Prophecies stars Richard Gere as a grief stricken reporter, bent on solving the mystery that has left his life a wreck. The Mothman is in a class along with Bigfoot, and The Loch Ness Monster. A Creature randomly sighted that has saved some from death, and brought it early to others. For more information on the movie and the legend. just click the above banner. -Russ
Well, as much as we hate to do it, we at MovieManiacs.net have had to resort to begging. Don't worry, we don't want your Money, your blood, or your first born Child. What do we want then? Well, glad you asked. It goes like this. After a monumental month for us, we find ourselves, after 3 years, finally invited to the big show. That's right, this year we were granted access to Toy Fair in New York City this February. What's the problem then you fools? Well, being that we are not backed by anyone, hell we don't even have ad's, we bankroll this site ourselves and it doesn't leave us with much left over for Airfare. So what we are asking is for ideas, hints and suggestions, about how to get really good rates for Plane Tickets. Sorry to have to resort to this, but it has been a dream to go, and we would feel more shameful, if we let it fall by the wayside instead of trying everything we can. If you have a suggestion, comment, or any info that will help, CLICK HERE to send us a quick E-mail and let us know. Thanks to all! -Russ
Updates for 1-24
It seems that the person who "saved" those MM5 hints posted at the Spawn board "after a moderator posted and deleted them" actually made the entire scam up by himself. Hints such as "Pass the cereal," "I am a friend to birds and dogs," and "I have a reptile name but I'm human" were nothing but lies made up by someone with nothing better to do, and have no bearing on MM5 after all. The good news? This essentially changes NOTHING for MovieManiacs.net! While it's true that we can no longer suspect a Seth Gecko figure or an 18-inch Snake Plissken of being in the line, all of the tips that MM.net has received over the past month have been completely unrelated to those phony "clues" reported on the Spawn board. The scoops that you've been reading remains as solid as ever. That goes for both the silhouettes and the unique insider tips. Whether it's the Djinn, the Tooth Fairy, the Terminator Endoskeleton or any of the other currently reported figures, MM.net's reports and great tips from the highly regarded Ash X remain unaffected by this new information. We apologize for the confusion, but are pleased to still be bringing you the most accurate information on MM5 around. - Bishop
Since McFarlane started posting these silhouettes, this is the one, by far, that has sparked the most confusion and discussion among fans. Popular opinion had it pegged as the highly rumored "Creeper" from "Jeepers Creepers". Well folks, it aint The Creeper. So Who is it you ask? The answer, is also the answer to ANOTHER of McFarlane's most puzzling verbal clues. "I am a friend to Birds and Dogs". So who is it?, Ash X saves the day once again, but informing us that it is in fact "The Tooth Fairy". Yes, you head us right. The Tooth Fairy. So why have you not heard of the Tooth Fairy? Because the film it is associated with "Don't Peek" just began filming in November of last year, and should now be in post production. "Don't Peek tells the story of a man (Chaney Kley) who is considered crazy by everyone in his small town, with the exception of his childhood girlfriend (Emma Caulfield) and her little brother. The young man is the only thing that can prevent a legendary evil called 'The Tooth Fairy' from getting to the girl's little brother." The original working title of the movie was "The Tooth Fairy." Why? Because "Don't
Peek" is actually an extended, full-length feature film
version of a little-seen short film that was made last year.
The short film, "Tooth Fairy," was written and directed
by little-known screenwriter Joseph Harris, who also wrote the
screenplay for the new version, "Don't Peek."
Now, take a look at this -- it's poster from the original short
film:
See that shadow? That's the Tooth Fairy, the evil creature from both the original film and the upcoming "Don't Peek." Looks kind of familiar, doesn't it? You can sort of see the wings, as well as the hat, from the toy silouhette.
Dissapointed as we are, that it's not The Creeper, we have to believe that McFarlane has an eye for good creatures, and if the shadow is any sign, this one shouldn't be a letdown, especially after we see the film.
We are trying to uncover as much info as we can on this movie and it's original form, so keep checking back with us for the latest on the line, and the movies they come from! - Russ and Bishop Updated: Here comes further confirmation from the film's screenwriter, the creator of the Tooth Fairy himself, Joe Harris. This was posted on his site's message board: ""I hate to be coy about this and just tease... but there're some pretty cool announcements to be rolled out in the coming weeks re: Don't Peek, or Tooth Fairy or whatever-the-fuck they decide on naming it. I have two words for you. 1) Comics. 2) Toys. And when you hear the names involved (not to mention the companies) I think you'll be very impressed. I know I'm fucking floored. More soon! - JH"
Updates for 1-23
First it was 'Resident Evil,' then 'Resident Evil: Ground Zero,' then 'Resident Evil: Genesis,' and now it seems that the movie has reached its final title. Ironically, it's once again simply called 'Resident Evil.' If you want to see the movie's trailer, you could find it attached to prints of 'The Mothman Prophecies' this weekend. Or you could just download it right here, at C.H.U.D. Thanks to West Re animator for the trailer news. - Bishop
It seems that the prequel film to 'The Exorcist' is no longer going to be called 'The Exorcist 4:1,' but is now untitled once more. On the upside for the production, though, Ryan Phillippe is in final negotiations for a major role in the film. Phillippe would play Father William Francis, who is described as "a young priest who does not understand how Merrin can lose faith in God." He would join currently-signed cast members Liam Neeson and Billy Crawford on the movie. Thanks to Dark Horizons. - Bishop
Here's the in-depth interview with tons of screenshots, all from the X-Box version. Dawn of Fate takes place in 2027, as you control John Connor, Kyle Reese, and others as you try to get Kyle to the time travel facility in order to send him to 1984. - Bishop
If you want 'Resident Evil,' better warm up your GameCube and/or your Game Boy. First off, Capcom has announced plans to release no less than FIVE Resident Evil games for the Cube this year. First up is, of course, Resident Evil Redux, which is the beautifully retooled edition of the original game that started survival horror. Second, a direct port of Resident Evil 2 will come out. After this comes the release of the all-new Resident Evil Zero, a prequel to the series. Direct ports of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, as well as Resident Evil Code: Veronica will round out the year. Resident Evil 4 will be unleashed onto the Cube in the first half of 2003. Meanwhile, if you have a Game Boy Color or a Game Boy Advance, you have reason to be happy. The previously Europe-only Game Boy Color game Resident Evil: Gaiden is coming to American shores in the first half off 2002. It's a big year for the franchise, indeed. Thanks to IGNCube and IGNPocket. - Bishop
Updates for 1-22 Darkness Confirmed.
Remember yesterday's update, when we told you that their was a new Candidate for Series 5. Well, now it looks like it's official Today on the McFarlane Toys Message board another silhouette was posted and after some work in our photo program, we came up with what you see above, which almost unmistakably Darkness from the movie Legend. Darkness will make an amazing addition to the Movie Maniacs lineup and is a creative and intelligent choice by McFarlane. No matter how you may feel about the movie, you must admit it is an amazing looking creature and will be an amazing looking figure come September. Keep checking with us for all the latest news on Series 5 and other lines.
There's a whole bunch right here from More Magazine. However, be warned that the images reveal the look and design of the final creature that our heroes face in the movie. - Bishop
It's on AICN, but thankfully it originates from a far more reliable interview. You can get a few hints about what he would do with the franchise given the chance to return by reading this. - Bishop
You can download two internet documentaries on the stunts of these upcoming movies by checking out StuntRev. - Bishop
There's some evidence to believe, but right now it seems like there's more reason not to. You might want to check out the film's page at Coming Attractions and scroll down to the bottom to see what's up. - Bishop
They will if Joss Whedon has any say in the matter. You can read about his hopes for next year at Cinescape Online. - Bishop
Here's one with minor spoilers that's resoundingly negative. And here's another from Dark Horizons, that's quite positive, with no spoilers at all. And speaking of reviews with small spoilers, yup, here's another one at UpcomingMovies. - Bishop
Updates for 1-21
One of the things that has plagued us recently is just what the Boxed set for Movie Maniacs Series 5 will be. We have gotten many behind the scenes reports on the line itself and even the 18 inchers, but that damn boxed set has eluded us...that is, until now. Two days ago we received an e-mail update from Ash X, our most reliable source and the man that has helped us break the news on the lines the last 3 years. Ash told us that apparently, after much fan demand, and bidding wars over the license, McFarlane has obtained, and will produce an Alien and Predator Boxed set for Movie Maniacs 5. If this indeed holds true, it will be a joyous spike, in, what some have called, an average line. Remember, all our reports, we are obligated to tell you are unconfirmed until McFarlane actually announces it, but also remember it comes from a VERY reliable source. Either way, I don't think anyone will complain about seeing this AMAZING, and long overdue set on shelves this September.
We didn't think it was possible either, but ace investigator Ash X, also gives us an update on the status on the line. He tells us that the Leprechaun's fate is slightly questionable, but may make it in the line. More importantly though, he gives us a new player to mull over, and it happens to be the very amazing looking Darkness from Legend, a figure that many fans have been requesting. Played by Tim Currey, this Devil looking behemoth would make a fine addition to toy shelves everywhere, and will guarantee to scare the crap of of Grandmothers and small children everywhere. Will he make it in? Keep watching the page for the next 3 weeks until Toy Fair 2002 when all will be revealed.
Updates for 1-20
Scarecrowman sent us in a little something he found on the UHM message board, where a board member who was put into contact with New Line, in a roundabout way, was told by a member of the studio's legal Department that many things will be merchandised in conjunction with the movie, including the McFarlane Jason X, as well as an "old school 18 inch figure with sound effects". So that looks to be even further confirmation that we may see the last of the all stars in 18 inch form come september. Want to check out the post for yourself? Just CLICK HERE.
Updates for 1-19
That's the title of the 'Jeepers Creepers' sequel, but there's far more to be had from that well. You can also get a plot synopsis, and detailed character descriptions. But know this - these contain spoilers for the characters, but reveal none of the deaths. If that's okay with you, read all the latest here at Coming Attractions' page for the sequel by scrolling down. - Bishop
You can click on the above image to see a larger version of the newest poster. In addition, if you want to see tons of images from the film, including production art, you should go to this preview site. However, be forewarned! MASSIVE SPOILERS lie within, including revelations of which characters live and die! If you don't mind, use the username "Blade2" and the password "Nomak" to enter. Thanks to Coming Attractions and to Badism. - Bishop
David Goyer, the writer of the franchise to date, says "I hope that the third film will be more about what would happen if they [vampires] actually acheived their goals. What would the world be like if they managed to literally take over in a much more upfront way -- if the world were aware of their presence? I always wanted to build in that sort of direction." Goyer also says that after the third film is completed, there is talk of a weekly 'Blade' television series to follow the trilogy. Thanks go to Cinescape. - Bishop
It's old news by now, yet it has to be mentioned - the newest special edition of the original film, from Anchor Bay, will not include the short 'Within the Woods' as previously reported, due to rights issues. - Bishop
Straight from DVDFile, we now know that the extras on this 4/2 release "include 12 'Ghost Files' in-depth vignettes and the 13th 'Thirteen Ghosts Revealed' featurette, audio commentary with production designer Sean Hargreaves and creator of special make-up effects Howard Berger, video montage with deleted footage, and the original theatrical trailer. Retail is $24.95." - Bishop
You can find them right here, on Kari Wuhrer's official web site. Some are old, some are new. - Bishop
A select few made the final cut. Now it's time to choose which one you want to see as the film's poster. Go on over to the official site and vote. - Bishop
Sure, it's supposed to be "based on true events," but if you want the story behind the film, you're going to need to have cable. A special documentary on the real story is airing on FX on January 23 at 10 pm ET. - Bishop
Dark Horizons has another one right here, this one with only very minor spoilers. - Bishop
Updates for 1-17
'Variety' reported today, in this piece, that 'The X-Files' will come to an end this May after nine years on television. The decision was a shared one between Fox and Ten Thirteen, the show's production company. The final episode will be the program's 201st. E! first reported the news. - Bishop
There's a little bit of SPOILERS for both shows, available right here. - Bishop
As part of our ever growing little site, we have decided to add

Updates for 1-16 Jeepers...Is it the Creeper?
The above image was posted by McFarlane staff members on the Spawn message board. The only clue they gave was that it came from a series of figures they have already begun to preview, so naturally, we thought this bore a most striking resemblance to The Creeper from Jeepers Creepers, a figure we have told you is long rumored to be included in Series 5. You have the obvious strengths such as the tallness, the wings and the coat, and if you look at the head area carefully you can make out the hat, and then with some creativity, you can reason those might be some crows thrown in around the head for good measure and deceptive purposes. If it is the Creeper then this would lend itself to wonderful potential since it would seem the wings, Hat and Coat are all removable, as Staff member Bishop pointed out. So is it the Creeper??? We'll let you make up your own mind on that one, but in the meantime, see what others have to say on OUR BOARD.
What response we have been getting since posting the potential lineup to Movie Maniacs 5. Today though it seems one of our strongest predictions was all but confirmed by a Member of the McFarlane Toys staff, saying that board members had gotten into their "top-secret toy files", in reference to a post joking about the Endoskeleton. It was a funny post, but there seemed to be an element of seriousness to the post. Want to check it out for yourself, just CLICK HERE and thanks to Rheen for reporting it. We also received a 3rd confirmation from another anonymous source as well as some evidence, which shows that McFarlane sculptors have been working on this figure.-Russ
In an interview with Ridley Scott over at Latino Review, Scott talks about the next film on his slate. He says that he will decide in the next five weeks between three potential projects. They are 'Captain Kidd,' the long-in-development-hell 'Alexander the Great,' and, most interestingly, 'Alien 5.' It would seem that Sigourney Weaver's trip to England to discuss potential plots for a fifth film with Scott successfully developed an interest from him. - Bishop
Thanks to myersfan31, we now know that Dimension Films has put up this preview site for the eighth Halloween movie. The site declares that the film will be in theatres this summer, and features a new picture from the movie, which you can see above. - Bishop
Sad news today, first pointed out by Rassputin. It seems that the word of a Region 1 release on those 'Prince of Darkness' and 'They Live' DVDs was false. So far, they are planned only for Region 2. The retraction was put forth by Dark Horizons. - Bishop
West Re animator first broke the news yesterday, but it slipped past me until today. It seems that the sequel to 'American Psycho' is now a direct-to-video release. - Bishop
And in "tooting our own horn" news, Creature Corner put up this little tidbit today, which discusses the release of info on Movie Maniacs 5, and praises the very site you're looking at right now. West Re animator showed us first. - Bishop
Mike writes in to inform us that the Nevermore film festival will be held next weekend in Durham, NC. Among the screenings will be the highly discussed "Brotherhood of the Wolf" and Guillermo Del Toro's "The Devil's Backbone". For more information visit their site here.-Russ
Updates for 1-15
It seems that Sony wants the new John Connor to be a "name" in order to draw in a larger audience. And according to the latest news over at Coming Attractions, three of the names currently being tossed around are Chris Klein (Oz from the 'American Pie' films), Scott Speedman (Ben on 'Felicity') and Shane West (J.T. in 'Dracula 2000'). - Bishop
There's some minor spoilers in this review from Dark Horizons, but nothing too serious. - Bishop
Carpenter reports that he's recorded commentary tracks for the DVD release of "Prince of Darkness," as well as a commentary alongside Roddy Piper for "They Live." Expect the discs later this year in Region 1. The kudos go to Dark Horizons. - Bishop
Okay, so perhaps not being dead isn't really news, most of the time. But it is news when everyone on the Internet picks up an announcement from the radio that you've supposedly passed away. In truth, the novelist is alive and well, and rather amused at the word of his "death." - Bishop
Updates for 1-14
Since posting news on the possibilities in Series 5, the news just won't stop coming. We now have leads, as to what the next series of 18" Characters will be. There is still a great deal of speculation and we have narrowed it down to 3 possible choices. The first 2, reported again by Mr. X, are Jason Voorhees and The Terminator. We do not know from which forms they are planned, but we would have to say our choices at the page would be a more classic Jason, rather than the revamped Jason X, our favorite being from part 7. The Terminator, we hope, would be the classic T-800, with a head looking, hopefully better, than last years figure. The last figure possibility has had no confirmation, but could answer one of McFarlane's preview riddles posted a few months ago. One of the clues "I have a reptile name, but am Human." Could mean a small possibility of an 18" Snake Plissken. If not, the clue could point to a member of the regular line such as Sylvester Stallone's Cobra, or The Gecko Brothers from "From Dusk til Dawn". All that is speculation though, and although the brothers Gecko have been long campaigned for by fans, McFarlane has had a shakey relationship at best with Dimension films. Got your own opinions? Discuss them at OUR BOARD.-Russ
Updates for 1-13
Local Hero ASH X writes in with some yearly findings for the new line, and while some are still somewhat questionable, it seems likely that both the LEPRECHAUN and the Terminator-T-800 ENDOSKELETON are very strong possibilities to join the already confirmed Jason X and Djinn from Wishmaster as part of Series 5 this fall. An Anonymous source also wirtes to inform us that SARAH CONNER, also from T2 is planned in some form for Series 5. Also heavily rumored, but still as yet unconfirmed is The Creeper from Jeepers Creepers as well as a couple of others, but you will just have to keep watching the page for those. Remember, all above info is unconfirmed so far, but our past track record speaks for itself, and we hope that will continue with us this year. Keep watching the page for more.-Russ
Updates for 1-12
Okay, so it's just a silhouette. Still, this comes from one of the McFarlane Toys gang at the Spawn.com message board, and it's pretty clear who this shape belongs to. It seems more than safe to say that the Djinn from the 'Wishmaster' films will be in Movie Maniacs 5. Another figure from this same line is promised to be similarly "revealed" within a week. headzwillroll provided the tipoff to the news, with severe kudos to Badism (and the effort put forth by Severen) for providing the pic.- Bishop
It's not exactly "horror" in the strictest sense, but it's worth noting all the same. Disney has announced plans to turn their "Haunted Mansion" theme park attraction into a theatrical film. - Bishop
With filming set to begin in a few months, the final deals are being made for the production of 'Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machines.' ILM has now officially agreed to do the digital effects work on the movie. - Bishop
The title monster in this thriller, who will go up against Heath Ledger's priest character, will be played by Frenchman Vincent Cassel. The Hollywood Reporter had it first. - Bishop
This one comes from the CountingDown.com web site for the movie. Lots of spoilers abound. Beware. - Bishop
So, just how will Xander and Anya's wedding plans work out? You can learn about this, and more, from the newest AICN spoilers. Be warned that this spoilage is fairly heavy-duty. Also, it didn't take long for "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Complete Second Season" DVDs to get delayed. This delay is only one month, though. Expect them in June of this year, now. - Bishop
Updates for 1-10
The film translation of the popular video game series will now be in theaters on March 15. - Bishop
Cinescape is the originator of the news, but West Re animator tipped us off. It seems that NBC is planning to remake 'Carrie' as a pilot movie for a potential series. This, of course, means that Carrie is going to survive the initial movie. Jeff Gaspin of NBC said this about the 'Carrie' concept: "Not only do we get a good pop-culture movie that fits into our strategy, we also have the ability to take it further." Supposedly the new adaption will feature enhanced CGI special effects. - Bishop
First there was 'Night of the Living Dead.' Now Elite Entertainment has announced a new "Millennium Edition" DVD. It's the '80s horror film 'Re-Animator.' According to DVDFile: "Elite has just announced a 4/30 release date for Re-Animator: The Millennium Edition two-disc set. Sporting a new THX-certified 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, English Dolby Digital and 5.1 tracks along with Dolby 2.0 surround and mono tracks, the additional extras are quite extensive. Included are two commentaries tracks with director Stuart Gordon and a second with producer Brian Yuzna and actors Jeffrey Combs, Robert Sampson, Barbara Crampton and Bruce Abbott, new interviews with Gordon, Yuzna, writer Dennis Paoli, composer Richard Band, and Fangoria editor Tony Timpone, 16 deleted and extended scenes, a music discussion with Band, a multi-angle storyboard presentation, trailers, and TV spots. Retail is a mere $24.95." - Bishop
DavisDVD had the news first, with West Re animator again giving the heads-up. It seems that at last weekend's "Fangoria Weekend of Horrors," this announcement was made. Davis says "George Romero's classic will be released as a 3-disc set and will include all three cuts of the film - U.S. theatrical, 139 minute director's cut and Dario Argento's Italian cut retitled Zombie (with a different score from Goblin). The set will also include extras galore, featuring the group commentary track from the laserdisc box set and a tentatively planned commentary from the four lead actors. Anchor Bay is also apparently looking into licensing the documentary Document of the Dead from Synapse Films for inclusion in this set." This isn't official yet from Anchor Bay, however. For right now, it seems solid... - Bishop
