Richard Gere is on the hunt for a legendary mothman in the horror/thriller 'The Mothman Prophecies,' which is hitting theaters on January 25. Coming Attractions has five new images today on their page for the movie, all you have to do is scroll to the bottom. - Bishop
Wes Craven wants you to know that he's got about 50 million irons in the fire. Just check out this news piece from Creature Corner, where he discusses the upcoming film adaptation of the PC game 'Alice.' Craven says "It's very close to the game. Everything that we can take from the game, we will steal, and then we'll bring even more to it. I'm sure this will be a big CGI picture, and we'll try to duplicate as much of the sort of wonder part of the Wonderland as we can." He also says that the vision of Wonderland in the film will be unique, seeing from the perspective of a "post-21st century America" and that Dimension Films is shooting for a 2003 release, with a PG-13 rating. Hmmm... he says it'll be just like the game, but he also says it's going to take place in the future, and be rated PG-13. Just like the game my foot. Thanks to West Re animator for the tipoff. - Bishop
The court battle is over, and Warner Bros. loses. They didn't give Blatty and Friedkin their percentage of the 2000 re-release of 'The Exorcist,' in its new 'The Version You've Never Seen' form. And, as a result, Blatty and Friedkin have had the rights to the new version of the film fall into their hands. Thanks once again to Creature Corner. - Bishop
'The haunted cruise liner is now officially headed for theaters on October 25, 2002. Just in time for Halloween. - Bishop
.Joss has revealed in this story at Zap2It that Marc Blucas, a.k.a. Riley Finn, will be making a return appearance this season. Some hints as to what that might entail are in the article. If that doesn't whet your appetite for the future of Buffy (and Angel), though, you can find some VERY HEAVY SPOILERS for future episodes online from AICN, located here and here. - Bishop
Updates for 12-22
Screenwriter David Goyer, the man behind the scripts for both 'Blade' movies, has some thoughts about the sequel up in this article at Cinescape Online. He claims that the sequel goes "in a completely different direction" compares it to 'Terminator 2' and 'Aliens.' If you want the details, click that link. - Bishop
Despite recent comments about wanting to remake 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre,' it seems that Michael Bay is still interested in doing the apocalyptic horror film 'I Am Legend.' You can read some of his comments on it right here, again at Cinescape. Apparently, he thinks of the project as a combination of 'Alien' and 'Cast Away'... - Bishop
The film version of his novel 'Fountain Society' is getting a rewrite while Craven moves forward with the remake of the Japanese horror film 'Pulse,' but if you want details, you'll have to read more from, yup, Cinescape. - Bishop
'Angel' returns with a new episode on January 10. That same week, however, the WB is also adding a second showing of 'Angel' to the schedule. Reruns of other episodes will now also air on Thursdays -- it's unclear whether they'll air at 8 or at 9 PM Eastern Time, but a pairing with 'Charmed' seems plausible. The twice-a-week run will end at the end of Febuary. If ratings prove strong on Thursday nights, the show may move to Thursdays permanently after the trial is concluded. - Bishop
It's already out on the PS2, but if you missed the first incarnation of 'Silent Hill 2,' X-Boxers now get their chance. The day after Christmas, the Microsoft system gets its own version of the horror sequel. This version includes an extra mini-game not seen in the PS2 edition, with one new puzzle to solve that reportedly takes around an hour to complete. The 'Silent Hill' series has been critically acclaimed across all platforms so far, and comes highly recommended to horror gamers. - Bishop
Whatever your beliefs, or whatever you celebrate we here at MM.net would like to wish you a safe and happy holiday season. Feel free to join us on the message board to discuss your gifts, plans, or even choice of holiday horror movies. We'll see you in a few days with more updates. - Bishop

You can find the former here, while the latter is set at Febuary 22. - Bishop
One at Creature Corner, one at Dark Horizons. One mixed, one positive. Both also offer up an apparent new title for the film, 'Resident Evil: Genesis.' - Bishop
The big news is that 'Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me' is coming out from New Line on 2/26. Although most of the features are still unannounced on this SE, we do know that the 134-minute cut of the film will be the version on the disc, plus an all-new documentary on the making of the movie will be present. Also coming that day is 'Soul Survivors,' which left theaters in a blink but still offers a making-of featurette, deleted scenes, and the theatrical trailer. Finally there's, get this, 'The Mangler 2' with an audio commentary from writer/director Michael Hamilton-Wright, a still gallery, and promo spots. Thanks, DVDFile. - Bishop
Updates for 12-17
Thanks to the usual blokes down at Dark Horizons, we now have a casting breakdown for 'Terminator 3.' This is a sheet that provides a description for characters that have yet to be cast. The most notable name on the list is "John Connor," meaning that Intermedia has decided to drop Edward Furlong from the role, despite his own desires and previous claims to the contrary. The list provided includes these names and descriptions: John Connor: "The character is now in his early '20s, a haunted and reluctant hero not trusting that everything has been set right."
Kate: "Same age as John, a medical professional of some kind that's warm, physical and smart - one who can hold her own with the guys."
T-X: "Female in her '20s, the new Terminator who's sexy, composed and deadly. Actress requires demonstratable atheletic skill."
Brewster: "A scientific-background military man in his 40's/50's - a thoughtful, strong leader who has earned the respect of those around him."
Scott: "Mid-20s/Early 30s young man with good looks, charm, and attempting to make a stable future for him and his
fiancee." - Bishop
It happened a couple of days ago, but if you haven't seen it yet, the trailer for the Anne Rice adaption 'Queen of the Damned' is available for download here. - Bishop WWF.com wants you to know that The Rock won't be appearing on any wrestling programs in January, due to reshoots on 'The Scorpion King.' Expect the first theatrical trailer to be online by this Wednesday. - Bishop A recent tribute to Wes Craven resulted in an interview which is now transcribed at ESplatter. In it, Craven talks about the 'Freddy vs. Jason' project, which he had just discussed with the film's producer, Sean Cunningham, the previous day. Craven says "They’re still struggling with it... Yes, there is a notion to do it, and there have been many scripts. He told me there’s $3-million against it, which in film talk means they’ve spent $3-millions with different writers trying to get the right script, and they don’t have it yet. So I don’t know whether it will ever get made or not, but I won’t do it. It’s a little bit too much of going back." - Bishop Wes also revealed in the aforementioned interview that he's going to be recording a commentary for 'Last House on the Left' for an upcoming DVD release. The DVD is likely going to contain the original, unedited versions of a number of scenes, now reinserted. - Bishop Hellnet brought to our attention these pics posted over on the Spawn message board or the Frankenstien figure from the upcoming McFarlane Monsters: Series 1. Monster's is McFarlane's unique take on classic Monsters, as you can see, and promises to be an inventive and promising line. Look for Updates for 12-13 Did you know that Anchor Bay's new Special Edition of The Evil Dead has not only the Necronomicon's cover, but also you can open it up to flip through the pages of the evil book itself? Now you know. This and other info, including tons of pictures of the book's pages, are available from this report at HorrorDVDs. The image above is from the final version of the cover. Click on it to see a larger image, and go check out the report for more on the packaging. Looks like it's going to be beautiful. - Bishop The latest taste of Tom Savini B-horror is coming in the form of 'Death Island.' The story revolves around a horror movie that begins to film on a mysterious island, only to discover dark voodoo magic, zombies and the like coming after the cast and crew. You can check out the details on the movie on the official site. - Bishop Have you enjoyed the 'Tremors' film series thus far? Want to see more adventures? The news page at Tremors3.com is asking for people to show your support to Universal. If you want a 'Tremors 4,' or you support the idea of a 'Tremors' TV series, you can let them know and help push those ideas forward, just as fan support got 'Tremors 3' made. The site asks fans to go to the Contact Universal Studios page and send in your wishes. To support the 'Tremors' TV series, go to the Entertainment section and select "Television." To request a fourth 'Tremors' film, go to Entertainment and select "Movies" and/or "Home Video & DVD." Then share your thoughts, send them in, and you could very well be helping the franchise move ahead. - Bishop Updates for 12-12 When you remake one of your classic monsters into a successful multi-million dollar franchise, what do you do next? Simple, you remake more. Arthus A. Ross, co-writer of the original film, is going to produce the remake with his son Gary. No screenwriter has been attached yet. Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter. - Bishop Not ones to shy away from planning way in advance, Warner Bros. has announced an intended release date of Friday, July 4, 2003 for 'Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machines.' As a result of this decision, they've had to alter the rest of their schedule for that year and beyond. 'The Matrix Reloaded,' the second film in the 'Matrix' series, has been bumped up to Memorial Day of 2003. The third film in the 'Matrix' trilogy, which is filming at the same time as 'Reloaded' and is titled 'The Matrix Revolutions,' is scheduled for Thanksgiving of that same year. Originally, the third Harry Potter film, 'Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban,' was going to be released that Thanksgiving. That movie has now been bumped back to some time in 2004. - Bishop It's short, it's uninformative, it's a new review for 'Jason X,' and once again, it's quite positive. Just read it all here by scrolling past the foreign language part down the small English part. Coming Attractions had the tipoff. - Bishop Updates for 12-11 It's official: T3 has a U.S. distributor, and an official title. 'The Rise of the Machines' is the subtitle for the third flick in the franchise, which Warner got the right to distribute domestically for a cool $50 million. In addition to this, they also have first refusal rights to 'Terminator 4,' which Intermedia also hopes to produce. WB swooped in unexpectedly while Dreamworks, Disney, and Paramount were believed to be the top contenders. In light of getting a domestic distributor, Intermedia Films, the producing company, has now decided to shoulder the massive $180 million budget. Production on the expensive film is set to start next spring. The corrected title is courtesy of Coming Attractions. - Bishop If you want to glimpse the first trailer to 'Resident Evil,' you'll have to go see 'The Mothman Prophecies,' another Sony fright flick. It's debuting on January 25. Coming Attractions had the info. - Bishop Peter Jackson, director of 'The Lord of the Rings' film trilogy, had a dream of being the next person to remake 'King Kong.' He labored in pre-production for six months. Then, one day, Universal pulled the plug. What happened? Jackson reveals the truth in this short Cinescape Online piece. - Bishop Dark Horse announced their plans to tell an original 'Scorpion King' story in a two-issue mini-series set to be released next March. The word came, once more, from Cinescape Online. - Bishop 'Thirteen Ghosts' has been given a DVD release date of 2/26, next year. No word yet on features. Thanks to DVDFile. - Bishop Updates for 12-10 Three teaser posters were released by their respective studios today. The first is for the upcoming spinoff from 'The Mummy' films, 'The Scorpion King.' The second is for the sequel 'Blade II.' And the third is for the latest Anne Rice novel translation, 'Queen of the Damned.' Click on the images above for larger versions. Tipoffs came from Dark Horizons, with the last one originating from Aaliyah Online.- Bishop The Brazilian Jason X site has a host of new photos from the flick in its gallery, including new images of Uber-Jason for those who want to see him -- which means that if you want to see as little as possible, it's best to avoid these pics. Again, the first tipoff came from Dark Horizons. - Bishop According to The Hollywood Reporter, Isaiah Washington is set for this film about a haunted cruise. Gabriel Byrne, meanwhile, is in negotiations. - Bishop If you're watching 'Buffy,' take note -- for the next two weeks, the UPN is going to be airing a pair of classic episodes. Tomorrow night, it's season 4's 'Hush,' and next week, they're showing last year's 'The Body.' Neither of these are currently running in the FX rerun cycle, so check them out now. Also, a reminder for 'Angel' fans -- tonight's episode is a new one, 'Dad.' - Bishop Updates for 12-07 The latest issue of Fangoria has an interview with writer/director/actor William Butler, who says that "I'm reinventing the franchise. My take on the sequel is a combination of martial arts, anime and horror. [Executive producer Tom Fox] would like to get a 'Dawson's Creek' cast in there this time, and we are beginning to talk with directors." Butler also added that "We're also developing a 'Return of the Living Dead' TV series." - Bishop The official site for the 'Resident Evil' film has opened, unleashing a flurry of new pictures, plus the film's logo along with it. Check it all out right here, plus you can click on the film's logo above to see a larger version. In other RE movie news, here's an old report from Dark Horizons, which features a piece of 'Resident Evil' news. The news is a report from the Fright Fest 2001 screening of some film footage, and it gives some clues as to some scenes in the movie, so beware of spoilers. However, it also says that director Paul Anderson declared at the festival that the plan is for the film to be rated "R" in the U.S., and "18" in the U.K. - Bishop Variety reports that, despite being the frontrunners for the film, Universal Studios, the producers of 'T2-3D: Battle Across Time,' have chosen not to back the production of 'Terminator 3,' leaving Disney, Dreamworks, and Paramount Picture to vie for the domestic distribution rights. Universal's reasoning was that they felt that, with the long-in-development 'The Incredible Hulk' set for Summer 2003 release, that summer was already sturdy enough for them. - Bishop Dark Horizons would like you to know that a sequel to the Australia slasher flick 'Cut' has been greenlit. The sequel will be titled 'Cut Deeper,' and currently there's no word on a cast. - Bishop With ratings for 'The X-Files' dwindling, Ten Thirteen Productions has decided to try and lure in viewers with a contest. This sunday's episode, '4-D,' has something unique about its teaser. The viewer who can find what makes this episode's teaser different from any other has the opportunity to win a copy of the episode's script, autographed by the cast and crew. All you have to do is find the difference and e-mail your guess to askthexfiles@fox.com, with "SWEEPSTAKES" in the email subject line. From the correct entries, five winners will be picked at random. - Bishop Updates for 12-05 The police call him the Tooth Fairy, he calls himself the Red Dragon, and now we can all call him "That guy who played the movie version of John Steed." Ralph Fiennes has signed on to be the serial killer in 'Red Dragon.' Empire Online broke the news. - Bishop This is a link to the official web site for the film 'Resident Evil: Ground Zero.' Right now, the link might seem to go nowhere. But tomorrow, December 6th, the site will open up, and will include all sorts of title treatments, film photos, cast pics, and more. And with these materials, you can attempt to design the film's poster. That's right, you. Sony Screen Gems is having a contest to design the movie poster all the way up until December 31st. The winner will receive a cash prize, a copy of the poster, and a screening of 'Resident Evil' in your hometown for 100 guests. Plus, your poster will be seen across the nation in theaters everywhere. So get designin'. Coming Attractions broke the scoop. - Bishop In case you were wondering, Stan Winston Studios is already contracted for work on 'Terminator 3.' As in the first two film, Winston's staff will be providing all of the live-action special effects. Again, the news comes courtesy of Coming Attractions. - Bishop The latest film adaptation of a Stephen King work is about to debut in the most unlikely of laces. Total Movie Entertainment magazine, which always comes with a free DVD, is going to include the entire short film in Issue #6's DVD. The film is based off of 100 line poem "Paranoid: A Chant" which appeared in his 1985 short story collection 'Skeleton Crew.' For more info on the film, go to the official site. Thanks to Dark Horizons for the tip. - Bishop The film 'Black Fire' began filming in Mexico on November 21st, and things have been moving at a fast clip, with production set to already wrap next week. The movie "a rogue scientist that wants to use some legendary Guatemalan wasps (that do something special to their victims but I won't tell the secret - it's a great effect) to do some testing using human subjects but the wasps get loose." According to Dark Horizons, "actor Shane Brolly plays an entomologist that uncovers his plan with the help of Kaarina Aufranc's character, an undercover agent tracking drug shipments through Latin America." - Bishop The good folks down at Creature Corner provided this report on Jeepers Creepers 2 today, filled with rumors and conjecture. There is one fact to be taken from the article, though -- the film's budget is set at $16 million, nearly double the original film's. - Bishop Updates for 12-04 First Tobe Hooper and writer Kim Henkel wanted to remake their own film. Now, according to this report from Creature Corner, Michael Bay wants to do his own version. So, what can we expect from Bay's remake? For one thing, the entire story is intended to be told from the point of view of Sally, after the horror has already occurred, as she tells it to the cops. I know what I personally expect from Bay's interpretation: Most Patriotic. Chainsaw Massacre. EVER. Kudos to West Re animator for the tipoff. - Bishop Will Arnold face two evil terminators? It seems that way according to this piece from FilmJerk. According to the news, the script has one evil female terminator, and one evil male terminator. However, there had been discussion indicating that the female one would be jettisoned. The reason? It wasn't just any old machine -- it was supposed to look identical to Sarah Connor. Unfortunately, Linda Hamilton has opted not to appear in the film, and Intermedia now intends to just find a pair of less-specific-looking badasses. In other T3 news, Arnold's paycheck is the highest one in industry history, a cool $30 million, and the production company is now telling potential investors that the film may cost as much as $180. That info comes from this news from Cinescape Online. - Bishop It may take a little longer to get your fix of big spiders, according to UpcomingMovies. They're saying that 'Eight Legged Freaks' has been pushed back to August 30, 2002. - Bishop TV Guide Online wants you to know, in this blurb, that Gillian Anderson will definitely not be returning for another season of 'The X-Files.' Have no doubts about that anymore. - Bishop Updates for 12-03 Bianca Kajlich, star of 'Halloween: The Homecoming,' has left this message on the Bianca Kajlich Message Board, part of Biancafan2's Official Bianca Kajlich Website. In the message, Bianca explains that reshoots will continue in two weeks, but that this will be the last set of reshoots. Thanks to Biancafan2. - Bishop Variety reports that the contracts were finalized this past weekend, locking Johnathan Mostow ('U-571') as the director and finalizing Arnold's hefty payday, which brought the budget up to a cool $170 million dollars, even higher than was anticipated. Intermedia Films is now hunting for financers/investors for the film. - Bishop Filmjerk provides us with this report, which that Fox has indeed been looking for an 'Alien 5' script. In fact, the final draft for 'Alien 5: Invasion' was recently handed in, and Fox has officially rejected it. The script featured Winona Ryder's "Call" character in the lead, and had no appearances by Ripley, a move obviously made to seriously cut down the budget. Time will tell if this opens the way for the currently-moving-again 'Aliens vs. Predator' project. - Bishop If you don't mind heavy spoilers, there's another review online for 'Jason X,' this one at Dark Horizons. Read it here. - Bishop Will Smith recently confirmed in an interview at Latino Review that he is looking into the possibility of starring in the latest film adaption of Richard Matheson's novel 'I Am Legend.' Matheson's book was previously translated into the film 'The Omega Man' with Charleton Heston. The script for this new version has been floating about Hollywood for years now, with Arnold Schwarzenegger originally set to star. - Bishop If you've read Gaiman's comic version of 'Murder Mysteries,' you know that this isn't your average gumshoe story. It takes place in heaven, shortly after the creation of Earth, where the corpse of an angel is found within the heavenly city. Lucifer (at this point still among the head angels) commissions Raguel, the Angel of Vengeance, to investigate. And thus begins one of the most unique murder mysteries ever written, which has now been transformed into a screeplay. Gaiman himself offers his thoughts on the script in this latest update from Coming Attractions. - Bishop
