Celebrate the spirit of the day by celebrating Halloween in your own special way. Just, please no Human Sacrifices or Demon summoning. Stick to parties, Trick or Treating, Scaring the bejesus out of people, watching a marathon of Horror Flicks, or Smashing Pumpkins and Egging cheapskates with no treats. (DISCLAIMER: Moviemaniacs.net is not responsible for any physical damage, Supernatural attacks or sticky windows. Readers perform at your own risk) Oh, and have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Rheen and Freddymaniac wrote both with Pics of the new musicland exclusive set and SURPRISE! IT'S CARDED! We always assumed it would be a Fishtank, but hey, for $12.99, we'll take it! Next Tuesday Night's Buffy promises to be one of the best Episode's ever. After a Demon is Summoned to Sunnydale, the Scooby's are forced to Sing their deepest feelings to one another, no matter how painful it may be. Walls will be broken, Unions Divided, and History will be made. Don't Miss it.
Updates for 10-30
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Liam Neeson is now set to star in the new 'Exorcist' film, in which he'll play the younger version of Father Merrin. I guess this project isn't going to be the fly-by-night operation so many suspected, after all. But having a nice budget and a big star doesn't mean quality... that we'll have to see for ourselves. - Bishop
A West Virginian legend comes to life in 'The Mothman Prophecies,' a new fright film starring Richard Gere and Laura Linney that's getting better buzz than either of them has had in years. The trailer this one is now online. You can find it right here. - Bishop
Just when Coming Attractions was reporting that Rob Zombie's directorial debut had a distributor, Dark Horizons turns around and says that that's not the case. In a recent interview on LA's KROQ radio, Zombie said that Universal still owns the film but he is free to shop for another distributor, or they can make it direct-to-video. All indications are that he's not ready to give up on a theatrical run yet. As for which Zombie interview to believe, I'm clueless. - Bishop
Davis DVD presented us with the image you see above, a prototype for the 'Necronomicon' packaging for Anchor Bay's new SE. They also reported that the Anchor Bay disc is going to include every single feature from the Elite Edition SE, plus new supplements. The DVD may end up being a two-disc set and will come with a 24-page booklet... all in all, a pretty thorough job. Severen provided the tipoff, for which he once more gets the kudos. - Bishop
Updates for 10-29
Rheen wrote in to let us know about the new pic to your left there and to let us know that now on the website and soon to be in stores, the Ash vs. Pitwitch exclusive set is now available for purchase. Just check your local Media Play, Sam Goody, Musicland, On Cue or Suncoast or CLICK HERE to order it from the Website for only $12.99. and speaking of The Musicland Stores...
The Musicland stores have gone wild with their licensing of ol beetlemeyer carrying everything from Salt and Pepper shakers to Christmas Ornaments. We snapped some shots of the figures and a couple of other things at a Meda Play the other night so CLICK HERE to check em out or:
McFarlane's 12" Chucky is also now hitting stores and can be found such places as Electronics Boutique and, guess who, the musicland stores mentioned above. Yama 86 got his from the EB Website and was kind enough to send us these shots. Click Here to check em out.
Sure they suck for the most part, but Spencer Gifts Stores can't get enough of the Cinema Screams line. On a recent visit, we caught a leatherface statue and Jason Bust/Snowglobe. To check em out, Click Here.
Updates for 10-26
The first one just came out, the second was released on Wednesday. The horror flicks of Halloween 2001 are here, and it's up to you to decide whether to bother with them. - Bishop
Big freaking spiders. Wreaking havoc, cocooning people, eating people, and generally being annoying to humanity. That's what you'll find in 'Eight Legged Freaks,' a monster flick with a bit of a light spin to it. The trailer for the flick is online now, and you can find it right here on the official site. - Bishop
When Nintendo decided to make the new GameCube incarnation of Zelda into a "cel-shaded" cartoon-style adventure, an uproar washed across the world. Now, Sega's doing the same thing to one of their franchises, one that's a lot darker and a lot more violent. Namely, House of the Dead. The zombie action is getting a toon makeover for its latest installment, set to be released on the X-Box. - Bishop
From the usually-unreliable AICN comes this set of supposedly-true Anchor Bay rumors. First off, it seems that AB is intending to include a fourth disc of new extras in the coming 'Evil Dead Trilogy' DVD box set. Second, they also have intentions of producing new special editions of the first two 'Hellraiser' flicks. And finally, it seems that MGM's license to 'Escape From New York' runs out in eight months. MGM is already planning on putting out an SE before then, but Anchor Bay is now interested in getting the rights to it and 'Escape From L.A.' for a box set makeover. Still, there's no reason to believe that they'll succeed in purchasing those rights, as it's something of a longshot. Thanks to Severen for the tipoff. - Bishop
Sorry, Special Edition owners -- looks like 'The Sixth Sense' is about to get an improved release in the form of a two-disc set. On January 15th, be on the lookout for the new DVD, which includes both old and new features. The rundown includes a new THX-certified anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround tracks, a new documentary on the paranormal hosted by M. Night Shyamalan, a number of featurettes ("M. Night Shyamalan: Storyteller," "A Conversation with M. Night Shyamalan," "Music & Sound Design," "Reaching The Audience," and "Rules & Clues"), deleted scenes, storyboard-to-film comparisons, an early M. Night Shyamalan short film, biographies, the trailer and some TV spots. - Bishop

We have recently learned that Maxim magazines Online Boogeymen Face-Off poll is not exactly on the up and up. In fact, they have no safeguards against Vote tampering and the ballot box can be padded quite easily. It is in light of these events that we stop promoting Maxims poll, and start our own, which IS safeguarded, at least more than theirs, so we can find out who the true victor shall be. Keep watching the site for updates, but for now click below to cast your vote in Round One!

Updates for 10-24
Andrew Divoff may not be playing anymore, but you just can't keep a nasty djinn down. 'Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell' is now available for rent and purchase, on video and DVD. Fans of the mean old wish grantin' beast might want to check it out. - Bishop
13th Street has picked up word that the 'Aliens vs. Predator' movie has gotten out of development hell once again, and is finally moving forward once more at Fox. This information comes from Producer Jon Davis. Big name Joel Silver has also heard that the film's wheels are churning over at Fox. He's apparently somewhat frustrated that he can't be involved at this point, due to commitments to Warner Bros. Time will tell how far this one makes it, before it actually gets greenlit or, much more likely, fades back into obscurity. - Bishop
Shannon Elizabeth has an interview about this new fright flick up at Creature Corner, which you can read right here. - Bishop
Dark Castle Productions, the company with Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis at the reigns, has already got two Halloween films under its belt - 'House on Haunted Hill' and 'Thirteen Ghosts.' For next year, they've got another... 'Ghost Ship.' According to Silver, it centers around a haunted ocean liner. - Bishop
Joss Whedon has dropped some words of warning to Buffy fans. Apparently, he finished editing the musical episode, 'Once More, With Feeling,' which is set to air on November 6th. However, it runs eight minutes too long, and the UPN has no intentions of cutting it down. That either means that the episode will A) features far less commercials than usual, or B) run overlong by about 10 minutes, bringing it in at 70 minutes of airtime like the recent WB 'Smallville' premiere. So, to all Buffy fans, take care when you set your VCRs for this one. - Bishop

Want information about N2 toys?. Then check out this exclusive interview our friend Randy from Action Figure Times scored from N2 Toys President Ron Hayes..... Randy from Action Figure Times scored from N2 Toys President Ron Hayes..... This week, Randy(of ASK RANDY) spoke with N2 Toys President Ron Hayes about the status of current and upcoming toys. Here’s what he got: MAD MAX: Series 2 figures are now scheduled for late 2001/early 2002. Series 3 figures are under consideration, depending on "how far we can expand the line." The V-8 Interceptor has been pushed to Spring 2001; the Gyro Copter is on hold for the moment. 12" figures are now due late 2001, due to new tooling for Wez’s body. Slot Racing game is dead; no retailer interest. GLADIATOR: While Universal had no problem with the license, it seems some of the movie's producers have delivered the final killing blow to Gladiator figures. According to Ron Hayes: "There are no figures. No one has a deal. No one will be doing it." THE FIFTH ELEMENT: N2 Toys is moving ahead with plans for 3 waves to possibly include Ruby Rhod, the Diva and Leeloo in "Bandage" outfit. There are some problems due to "unclear likeness rights" for a "particular character" that should be taken care of by the end of September. HARDENED 2: While the license for Bullitt has been finished up, negotiations are wrapping up for The Professional and Desperado(though Ron did hint that this might be a bigger deal), with Taxi Driver is still being negotiated. MATRIX: Due to the Wachowski Brothers and Joel Silver being tied up making The Matrix 2 & 3, there was delay in the approval process for the third series of figures. But expect Series 3 Matrix figures by early Summer 2002. BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA: The lineup is shaping up and "looking good" for Spring/Summer 2002. Series 2 is likely to include Gracie Law and Lo Pan in wheelchair. THE TICK: Due to the response to the up-coming Fox Series, there’s bee "lots of interest in this line." Expect the Series 1 figures in late 2001. KISS OF THE DRAGON: Right now, N2 Toys is "gauging interest in doing a full line" of figure from this movie. SON OF THE BEACH: The figures are "shipping out right now." Series 2 figures are planned for 2002. Last Words from Ron Hayes: "N2 Toys is expanding and every assortment is an improvement on the last. Were looking to offer good, quality products with good value for the collectors of the world." AFT thanks Ron for taking time out to answer Randy’s questions personally. Thanks again to Randy and Action Figure Times. -Badism |
